Electrical Designer, Cable Routing
We are Helsinki Shipyard - a company designing, building and commissioning tailor-made, high-class passenger vessels and icebreakers for extreme conditions. Our roots date back to 1865, and we proudly continue the story of Helsinki’s own Shipyard, in the heart of Helsinki.
With us, you get to design and build the ships under one roof from start to finish, in close collaboration with our customers. Our specialty lies in vessels that operate on the polar seas, but we can build everything from smaller yachts to complex multi-purpose icebreakers. To provide you with some perspective, we've built 65% of the world's icebreakers - without us it would be hard to navigate in the icy seas!

Since November 2023, Helsinki Shipyard has been part of the Canadian Davie group.
We are looking for an Electrical Designer, Cable Routing to join our team of designers. In this role, you will take responsibility in building a detailed cable routing plan by using Aveva E3D and Excel. Cable routing is done for all cables, so one vessel has plenty of routing work. Cable routing will create a base of cable estimations, correct length of cables etc. and for this reason cabling routing needs a special precision.
You will join the Electrical & Automation team, alongside 8 team members focused on Automation, Lighting, Propulsion, Low Voltage, Routing and Detail Design Coordination. Additionally, you’ll work with our seasonal workers and subcontractors. Collectively, we're roughly 400 professionals specializing in shipbuilding.
“The ship project takes from 2-3 years, and you can literally see the completion of the ship from plans to the finished ship ready for her maiden voyage outside one’s own window. It’s always a moving moment when a ship leaves for her home port” - Mohamed Elameen, Ship Theory Engineer.
To succeed in this role, you should have experience in Aveva E3D & Cable routing (building or marine industry). Positive attitude to learn new will be the key to success.
English is necessary as we have international clients and suppliers.
